戦時中に日本からタイに供出されたC56形蒸気機関車。

戦後もタイ国鉄に残り活躍していたけど、20~30年前に引退してしまった。

それでも解体されずにタイで保存されているC56形がある。

その中でもカンチャナブリ鉄橋駅前で保存されているC56形が有名だけど、バンコクからはちょっと遠い。

個人的に一番見に行きやすいと思うのは、バンコク・マッカサン工場で保存されているC56形。

ただし、塗装が剥げてしまっている姿は痛々しいけど。

塀で下半分が隠れてしまっているけど、マッカサン通りの歩道からいつでもC56形の姿を見ることができます。
